From Pints to Potatoes

Plymouth's notorious late night venue famously known locally as Cuba! which saw thousand of students and locals experiencing late night (early morning) tipples and great fun over many years from their location on North Hill just opposite the university campus.

Many people would remember the drab off white and brown exterior of the Cuba! entrance which greeted late night punters until 6am.

During the summer hours punters would find themselves entering the venue at night, and leaving the venue in day light.

Recently Cuba! went under a small renovation and briefly reopened as a venue called Play which was themed around sports and aimed mainly at student night outs.

Well now the iconic venue has had another major transformation so much so, they are no longer a boozer but now Perillas Fish & Grill Bar...

That's right! it's now a late night Chippy!

Perillas will be opening 7 days a week with a closing time of 6am (except Sundays 9pm)

Trace, Katie & the girls went along this afternoon to test out the food on their opening day.

The food was amazing, one of the best traditional ''Chippy'' style chips I've tasted recently in Plymouth with a very generous portion size (too big for my little belly)

The staff were very welcoming and took the time to talk with us about the exciting new venture that Perillas has ahead of them in their new North Hill location.

They also took the opportunity to do some modelling themselves.

We chatted with the owner who told us that the project has taken 2 (and the rest) months to convert the venue from neglected night club to fresh restaurant with seating and quirky decor.
